Selling Price =Cost price + profit

Cost price = selling price – profit

Profit = Selling price  – Cost price

Loss = Cost price- selling price

% profit = Profit     x     100%

Cost price       1

% loss = loss    x    100%

Cost price     1

Example 1: Find the actual profit and selling price of a cap bought for #250 and sold at  a profit of 20%.

Solution

Actual price = 20    x   250

100        1

Profit =#50

Selling price= cost price + profit

Selling price =#250 + #50 =#300

Example 2: Find the percentage profit for a good bought for #300 and sold for #345

Profit = s.p – cp

= #345 -#300 =#45

% profit = 45    x    100%

300            1       = 15%
